Obituaries narrate lives lost to the opioid epidemic

David Armstrong at Statnews.com┬álate last year wrote an article that shows the aftermath of opioid addiction. David collected the photos and obituaries of people who had died as a result of their addiction to opioids. In each obituary, the family has decided to mention their loved one’s battle with addiction. Many families have decided to break the taboo of mentioning addiction and/or overdose as a cause of their loved ones death. Families are now using these obituaries to advocate for those who have substance use issues. These obituaries represent only a portion of the estimated 636 Americans who die weekly on average from an opioid related overdose. Take a minute to read these obituaries and see what the face of addiction looks like through the pictures of those who have passed away. Click ‘Read More’ to experience this moving article.
