Recovery & Culture Training

Learn about various cultures in our population

When: December 11-13th, 2018

Time: Registration 8:30 am – 9:00 am Training 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

Where: 1441 N. Delaware Street, Indianapolis Indiana

Cost: $10.25

This three-day experiential training is designed to help recovery professionals be more effective in working with people in recovery from diverse cultures. Training participants will be afforded the opportunity to explore cultural humility, responsiveness, and competency practices as well as to build culturally effective skills. The culture of recovery will be examined and cultural perspectives.

Participants completing the training will receive eighteen (18) CEUs from ICAADA . This training receives support from the Indiana Addictions Issues Coalition’s Building Networks for Recovery Project.

  • Understand cultural humility, responsiveness and competence
  • Identify characteristics of cultural heritage and style
  • Recognize similarities and differences among cultural groups
  • Identify attitudes and behaviors which block communication
  • Understand explicit and implicit bias
  • Recognize micro-aggressions
  • Recognize attitudes and behaviors which enhance cross-cultural relationships
  • Understand the characteristics of the culture of recovery
  • Practice effective cross cultural relationship development
  • Identify the impact of their own cultural style service delivery
  • Recognize best practices for cultural effectiveness
  • Develop their own cultural effectiveness development plan
