On Friday, DMHA Director Kevin Moore presented a comprehensive overview of a broad range of activities underway to address the opioid crisis in Indiana. His presentation was made to the Indiana Commission to Combat Drug Abuse.
Notable moments of the presentation included the addition of 23 more addiction providers in the state since January 2017 with 10 more applications pending. Also, a 26 percent increase in residential treatment beds since the implementation of the 21st Century Cures grant funding in 2017. Director Moore also discussed efforts underway to help educate Hoosiers about opioid use disorder and reduce stigma that can be a barrier to effective treatment and recovery.
