Connecting Communities

Recovery Happens Within Communities!

Recovery happens in communities and neighborhoods where people live, where they can access natural support systems and live a life of independence.

We are promoting and supporting the development of Recovery Communities across Indiana that understand, welcome, encourage, engage and nurture people who have substance use and mental health challenges.

Working Together Works!

A fundamental value of PEER Recovery Indiana is the involvement of people in recovery, their families, and the community to continually improve access to and quality of services. There are many ways to stay connected and strengthen our network of Recovery Communities.

We offer on-going educational workshops for individuals in recovery and their families, including the unique needs of returning veterans and their families. We schedule these in key areas across Indiana, as listed on our Workshop & Training page.

In addition to planned efforts, we also work with communities and neighborhoods where there is a specific need or interest. An example of this is Austin, Indiana in Scott County. The Get Healthy Scott County Coalition and Hope 2 Others Church held a “Recovery Oriented Systems of Care Summit” in 2016.  They also held an “Austin Community Outreach Event.”  Read more about these in our News & Info section.

If you have an interest in sponsoring similar conversations and efforts in your community, please let us know! We’d like to leverage the collaboration and best practices from Scott County and help other parts of Indiana develop stronger recovery-oriented communities!

Social Media

Our sponsoring organization, Indiana Addictions Issues Coalition, has an active Facebook page. It’s a great way to stay abreast of national, state and local news, events and information.

We also have a private Facebook Group and Website Login for our Recovery Coaches (RC) and Recovery Community Organizations (RCO) around the State. This allows us to easily share continuing education, intern and job opportunities and other information to help RC’s and RCO’s

One of the easiest ways to stay connected and learn about the many “pockets of recovery” in Indiana is through our quarterly newsletter. We regularly feature personal stories of recovery along with spotlights on communities and organizations around the state who promote peer-based recovery. We list events, workshops, training and other news from groups around the state.
